July 2015 – Race for Life

Our last newsletter was in November last year but I hope you will understand the reason for the long silence when you read the following message from Chrissie:

I’m joining Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life this year. Please join the fight by digging deep and sponsoring me – it’s quick, easy and totally secure.

Last year I had bowel cancer.  After the diagnosis you feel so alone and even the words ‘next year’ take on a new meaning because how do you know it’s there for you?  Cancer Research UK was one of the ‘safe’ websites that gave me information and didn’t scare me like Dr Google.  If I’d had this cancer 20 years ago my chances of survival would have been much lessened so research into the nasty disease has helped.

I am part of Team Vid because a family friend Vid Warren – a talented, young musician and beatbox artist – was struck down with a brain tumour.  His courage and dignity with his disease was a lesson in how to deal with mine.

Events like this are vital in funding Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me, we can unite and create an army that cancer can’t ignore. By sponsoring me, we will beat cancer sooner.

Don’t forget to add Gift Aid

If you’re a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no extra cost to you.

Sponsor me now, and help me show cancer that hell hath no fury like a woman in pink.

Throughout the trauma of the past year, Chrissie has, amazingly, continued to create the resources each week with my function switched to carer, for much of that time.

Thanks for your support which we need right now.
